How do you always look so put together? A question I get often.
My life is quite busy, working full time, running 2 businesses and a family takes up a lot of my time. This however should not mean that i let go of myself. I had to learn a few tricks to ensure I look well put together most times. You know, when you look good, you feel good.
Now…please don’t think I look like this 24/7, I also have my off days but I make sure they don’t overshadow the good.
I think this post goes hand-in-hand with my previous post, you can read it here. Taking care of ourselves is so important. In our previous post we looked at the inner (wo)man, this time we take a look at our appearance. This is what the world first see before even connecting with us, let us make a good first impression.
Below are 6 ways to look well put together: (quick and easy)
1.Have a go to hairstyle. Our hair is our crown and I am sure you can agree with me that you feel well put together when your hair is done. Also, don’t let the bad hair days get to you. Be prepared, have a go to hairstyle that you feel confident in. Practise until it is perfected and you can do it in a matter of seconds. If all else fails, put a cap on. It always works like a charm!
2. Be well groomed.
Choose a day in the week on which you will do your nails, eyebrows, hair, shave and all that good stuff. My grooming day is always on a Thursday. This way I am fresh for the weekend. Wink.
3. Plan your outfits.
This will save you a lot of time. Also have an emergency hanger ready. We all have days when we don’t have time to put an outfit together and this hanger can be a lifesaver. You can grab this hanger knowing you will go out in style and no one will know you had an emergency. Remember to fill the hanger again when you get home.
4. Have a basic make-up routine.
This should not be time consuming. My personal emergency make-up takes less than 2minutes. Just hand me the BB cream, mascara and blush.
5. Refresh through the day.
Make sure to look in the mirror often for fly-aways (I am abundantly blessed with them) or smudge make-up. We don’t want to face a client looking like Zoro. Keep your “refresh stash” in a small make up pouch in your handbag to always be prepared.
6. Smile.
Yes, I know. It can be hard to slap a smile on at times, but have you ever heard the quote “you are never fully dressed without a smile”. Now let’s put the cherry on the cake and smile.
These are my core tips for looking put together as a mom on the run. I trust that you will implement them and that some (or all of it) works for you.
